Welcome to EGG+FROG! We devise and host unique, inspiring, creative writing competitions.
Our competitions are like no others. We publish and make illustrations for our winners and runners-up. We also offer our winners a paid opportunity to judge a future competition and contribute to our unique, patchwork narrative, ‘The Hero’s Journey’. Oh, and the more people who enter our competitions, the bigger our prize pots get.
Most importantly of all, a portion of all of our ticket sales go to hand-selected charities to promote reading, writing and creative expression in the UK and around the world. We hand select organisations that focus on expanding literacy and creative opportunities to all. So by taking part, you’re also doing your bit to help reading and writing thrive across the world. Kieran
Kieran Cottrell is a literary editor and sometime English Language teacher. He started EGG+FROG on a twelve-year-old PC in the corner of the coldest room in the house. He’s the general editor here, the designer, the arch feedbacker, and a recovering procrastinator. So it’s all his fault, basically.
Jenny
Jenny Todd has a PhD in Psychology and a dream to run a toasted sandwich shop one day. She’s the brains of the operation: our business manager, Jenny keeps the lights on and the thermostat high. All the best ideas are usually hers.
Monty dog
Named after Britain’s greatest living national treasure (sorry Sir David), Monty Dog is head of PR and BBQ. He’s quite judgmental, actually – an irreplaceable pain in the rear end. He also has his own Instagram, which he updates when he’s finished eating recycling the newspaper.

EGG+FROG is held together with bits of tape, sheer bloody-mindedness – and the help of people like you. Our growing community of writers fill our forum with value and insight; our judges take the brunt of the difficult decisions; and a small battalion of volunteer readers help us whittle down longlists into little longlists.
